Log Cabin Love

Well...I have been a busy girl.  Look what I started while in the mountains this past week!  I have been wanting to do a log cabin afghan for quite some time.  Only thing I knew I had to have was red center squares.  So, while relaxing in this absolutely gorgeous log cabin that was sitting on Nantahala Lake, I began making squares.  Problem is...I can't decide what exactly I want to do!
You can see what I am talking about.  This one has more contrast.  Then there is the question on how to arrange them.
Then, I tried other colors.  You see where I am going?  At this point I am seeking opinions.  My mom tells me to use them all.  She may have something there!
There is something about these colors that I like.  They are so subdued and peaceful.  Serene.  They remind me of a photograph I took off the back deck of the cabin we stayed in....
See what I mean???  I think I am close to these colors...but not quite.  I took this one morning right before a rain shower hit.  It was gorgeous there!
Decisions ~ Decisions!  I would love any comments that can help me make my mind up!!

Before I go, I want to share just a couple more things with everyone!!  My flickr buddy used my Chicken Ornaments pattern and put the cutest spin on it ever!!!!!  She is such a talented gal...love her patterns!
Adorable or what!!!!!  Check out Ellen's blog!  It is so full of inspiration!  You can find the rooster pattern here in my shop.

Lastly, I want to leave you with a picture of the ultimate shirret rugmaker at her best!
Look at that rug she is making!!!!  I promise to bring you more pictures of it!

I signing out...got some hooking to do!

I agree with your mom, use them all! I see some yarn in there that I used on the big afghan I made for my husband. I think it's called Aspen Print. Such soft colors. I love the red center on your blocks. You just can't go wrong using a red center!

Yep, I'm with your Mum and Mary Grace- I would use all the colours.
They look just beautiful, and I love how you have matched them with that beautiful photo

I absolutely love the colors and I am with your mother and would use them all. The roosters are adorable and I would love to make those myself after my move. Can't wait to see the finished rug. What lovely work.

I'm loving your squares....do you have a pattern you could share or are you just making it up as you go along?

Your color combinations are so unique no matter what you work on! You just have that talent & eye. I'm in love with this log cabin design like many of your other creations. The 'Roosters' are just too cute! Thank you for mentioning me! :')

I'm working on a log cabin afghan as well and am having trouble settling on my colors too. I love your use of the variegated yarn and the red centers really pop. Have a great day. I just added you to my "feed". :-)

I am so glad that I found your blog, I have always loved to crochet and knit and I have been quilting for 15 years. Your photos are an inspiration! Keep up the wonderful work!

I, too, like all your colors -- but I do also think log cabins look best with strong contrasts. Just my own preference.
On the other hand, your designs are always lovely!

@marcia, I am struggling with that same thing! I keep moving my squares around, taking some apart. This is a true learning experience!
