Garter Stitch Boucle Scarf

I had to get my earth tone fix on after working on the shawl I just completed! So - ta dah! After rummaging through my baskets and cubbies of stash, I pulled out some boucle yarn, grabbed my circulars and went to town. I cast on 120 stitches and just garter stitched to my heart's content. I actually threw in some eyelash yarn with the black, which really makes this scarf squishy and soft. Seems so odd knitting scarves in 100 degree weather, right? LOL!

Anyway, I do love it. And I have started another scarf with these same yarns, but in a different pattern. I'm really liking it as well!

Yay, the granny shawl is complete and being blocked! I am now on a quest for a model to bring you some pictures before it finds it's new home!

For now it's time to clear my head, and get to work! Knitting night with my girls, yay! I can see some giggling in my future!

Crochet Away....

that's what I have been up to!  I totally scrapped the meditation shawl I was working on.  I do like it, but not in the yarn I am using.  So I contacted the gal that requested it, and told her I would like to crochet her one instead.  She said, "I leave it to your creative genius."  So, I took it and ran!

I am now a happy camper...and really enjoying working on this.  I have been wanting to do a granny square shawl for quite some time with a mixture of yarns.  I'm close to finishing, so pictures will be coming of the completed shawl soon.

And finally, I finished the purse I have been working on for an etsy order.  Whew!!!

Like?  I do love this yarn.  I added a black crocheted lining, so you could run over this thing with a truck and it would still stay intact! LOL!!

My niece really wanted to take it home with her!

Next on my list is to finish up the shawl, crank out a granny baby binky, then my time is my own!  I am jonesing to finish up my rug and maybe work on some scarves.  I seem to have such a hard time recently getting things done.  Don't know if it's distraction, stress, or what...but I can tell I'm not quite on my game...it's been hard to blog and keep up with all those great blogs that I follow.  I must work on this!

I am off for now.  Put in a twelve hour day at work, listed the bag on etsy, and got to blog a little...now it's time to snuggle up with my girlie dog!

6 squares = 1 rectangle!

I wish you could actually feel this, it is so soft and squishy...I am really liking it.  This is my first attempt at a square rug, and I am really learning alot!  I have now figured out it is a lot easier to shirret each square and then attach them rather than trying to attach each row at a time.
I am also on the hunt for more red wool.  I've been scouring the thrift stores and good will for red wool skirts that can be sacrificed!  I am now ready for the border.  Not exactly sure what I want to do yet!  I was thinking dark blocks of color would really pop up the bands of color.

Let me share some more pics!

Phoebe had given it her seal of approval!  LOL!  I find that if I lay down my work and walk back into the room, she is normally laying on it.  Now how cute is that!
Here's a closeup of the rows of shirred wool.

It has been an extremely busy week for me.  Work has left me totally pooped in the evenings!  I hope to soon be posting pictures of the crochet bag I am working on.  It is looking so pretty!  My goal is to get it done and off to it's new home by next week!

I'm off for now...

Rug Progression

My rug is coming along beautifully!  I almost have four completed squares.  I am now thinking that it will be two rows of three squares, then I will add a border.  I am so 'Hooked'  (yeah, I said it, LOL!) on this that it is so hard for me to put it down and work on a crochet order.  But in the same breath, I love it when I am jazzed about a project like this!  My goal is to have a fourth square completed this weekend.

Also, I wanted to share the sweetest picture of Phoebe with one of my granny square blankets.  She looks so pretty!  My girlie dog has totally loved having me home with her all week.  I dread the thought of leaving her alone to go back to work next Monday!  :-(

I'm off to work on some more granny squares for the purse I am making...it's getting there, can't wait to share more!

Vacation Rules

I have decided that I am meant for this vacation thing.  Even though I am not going anywhere, just being at home and having time to do the things I love doing has been wonderful!!!  Unfortunately, the week is going by way too fast!

So, what have I been doing?   Well, take a look see!

A new rug has been started!  And I already love it!!  This idea has been floating around in my head for quite some time, and I am just now working it out.  No pattern, making it up as I go!  I am wanting a real patchwork look.  And of course, my favorite, PLENTY OF RED!  I imagine this rug will be around long after I am gone from this earth, which is kinda cool to think about!

I have started receiving requests on how this is done.  It is called Shirret.  You can learn all about it by clicking above.  Although it is an old craft, the ideas and patterns the website offers gives the whole thing a really 'groovy' spin!  I will warn you, once you get started, it's hard to hold back...truly addictive!

I have also begun work on another custom order for a bag.  And I am love'n this yarn.  The color is new, called "tuti fruiti".
Agree??!  It is so nice to be using a crochet hook once again.  The wrap I have been working on has me totally burned out on knitting for the moment!  I can never tire of granny squares.  This bag will be a tad larger than the others I have done, and of course, have a heavy duty crocheted lining!  The custom order was requested to be done by the 11th, so I am busily crocheting squares this afternoon, doing my best to make the deadline!  This yarn is gorgeous.  If you happen to use this cotton, it will spoil you from all others!

One other thing about being on vacation, cooking supper isn't a dreaded chore for me!  I have a big pot of spaghetti sauce going now, and it smells so good.  I'm going to have a happy hubby this evening!
