Diva Scarf Finished!

It's Finished! And now I am jones'n to start another...actually I have started another...LOL..but it will be more of a wrap. This pattern came from Vanna White's Book, Heartfelt Gifts to Knit and Crochet. I can highly recommend this to anyone who knits.
Diva Scarf
This is such a fun scarf to work on. I just selected the colors that appealed to me and went to town. After I finished one stripe I randomly picked up another color and went from there. After about a third way through the scarf I no longer needed the pattern to refer to. It is very repetitive and easy to remember!

I love the lacy look it has! I can see this done up in so many ways. It would be beautiful done in different earth tones. I started another one in red and plan on adding cream, black, and grey into it. And I am making it wider to be used more like a wrap.

In the meantime I have been asked to knit a vest for a co-worker. I am a bit nervous about it, not truly knowing exactly what she wants and if my knitting skills are up to par. And then the hardest thing of all...COMING UP WITH A PRICE! I don't know if any of you have this problem. But it is a tough one for me. After all, my time is my time, and it is precious and hard to come by!

I have so many other things I want to do as well, and a house full of projects that are seriously needing my attention! Plus my Babette Blanket really needs to get finished...it is so close! Maybe if I get it out and place it on the ottoman in front of my favorite seat in the house...just maybe I may be enticed to pick it up again!

For now...I'm back to the grind!

I feel your pain about coming up with a price, I price my things way too low, it drives my husband crazy!

I really like your knitted scarf! This one and the gray, black, white, and red one.

Any tips for someone who would like to learn how to knit? I crochet and LOVE it! But I really love the textures of knitting and would like to learn.

Thanks!

I think my advice would be get a beginners knitting book. The hardest part for me was casting on! I also learned a lot of tips by videos on youtube. You can go there and search for knitting, it is full of helpful videos. Once you learn to cast on and do a knit stitch the rest is a piece of cake!! I am a crocheter since I was a kid, it wasn't until the past few years that I conquered knitting. They both are very rewarding!

Thank you so much for your helpful advice! Yes, I also like youtube, that's how I learned to crochet actually, from a video there.

Just feeling a bit intimidated sometimes to get started. Sometimes you hear the 'stories' of how less forgiving knitting is when doing projects as compared to crochet. Have no idea what they mean though(LOL). But I've also heard that there are only two stitches to learn when doing knitting and that's encouraging.

So we will see! Thanks again for your advice, it's been very helpful. Thanks!

By the way I love your work and find many of your things so inspiring. Your black 'carpetbag' is on my to do list.

Oh yes, I also like making the crochet linings for bags. Thanks for the idea.

Hello again,

I don't know if you remember me, anonymous that was seeking advice about learning to knit.

But I just wanted to say THANK YOU!!!

Your encouragement and excitement in helping encouraged me to go to videos online(knittinghelp.com actually) and I have learned to knit! Thank you so much! It took me a while to be honest and I had to go hunting the right knitting needles to get the right rhythm for knitting for myself.

But I now know how to do the basic knitting stitch without much effort and am looking forward to learning more.

I just wanted to THANK YOU AGAIN! It was your kind enthusiasm that pushed me to GO FOR IT!!!

THANKS ALOT!!!!

I hope you have a wonderful day!
