Granny Square Scarf FELTED!

Good morning to all my Bloggy Buddies! It is a rainy Sunday morning here in my part of the world, but I can think of know where else I would rather be at the moment. Here in my blog I seem to be resilient to the outside world!

So down to business! Here is my felted scarf! Now I ask, "aint it cool?" I absolutely love it with my favorite long sweater. I am definitely going to have to begin shopping for some boots!

I am so intrigued by this felting thing! As I pulled this scarf out of the washer I instantly loved it. How amazing to see the fibers locked together. I decided to run it through two wash cycles to make it a bit softer. It is soft, it truly feels like felt.

Below is a close up so you can see how the stitches disappear a bit.

The only thing I would have changed is to make my squares just a bit bigger. The shrinking was just in the width of the scarf. The length remained the same.

Before...The before scarf was just as pretty. But way to itchy to have against bare skin!

Interesting how the look changes by felting.

Oh!! Let me just share my latest Knit Picks order. This box was at my doorstep when I got home Friday evening! After a LONG day, and being extremely tired from the pain in my back and hip, opening this put a huge smile on my face!

These colors are so me...warm, look like Autumn. I am sure they will make their way into a scarf at some point! But for now they are displayed in a basket where I can get my touchy-feely fix every time I walk by them. This Palette Yarn has hooked me and reeled me in!

Okay, so now that I finished my felting project, I bring to you the beginnings of a Groovy Granny Square Scarf! This is also left over Palette that came from my Babette Blanket.

So whatcha think? I like it. I have done something similar to this only one square had a flower on it. You can see it here Buckster's Flower Power Scarf . I just felt for the size yarn I am using the flower may not work.

I think it's totally groovy!

I will leave you with this. It's perfect movie weather since the sky is so grey. I am actually loving the rain, which is much needed!

Ta-Ta!

felting amazes me as well.
when I make my felted bags, I have to make them 30% larger than the end result, I also block it to have the perfect shape.
That sweater is beautiful Dawn, I love it!
Does it get real cold in NC??
Here in the Pacific Northwest is mostly wet, it rains 8 months out of the year... but it is not as cold as in the east coast.

Alessandra, it can get really cold here! Although this is considered "the south" we often get hit with a Northeaster every winter...and it can get into the teens! Thank goodness I have plenty of scarves to keep me warm! LOL

Not sure I would like all that rain, it can depress me!

I love how the scarf turned out. It looks great with your long sweater. And the colors that arrived in your order from Knitpicks are so pretty! Can't wait to see what you come up with for them. The groovy granny scarf is turning out great also. The colors really go well with each other.

Too bad you can't send some of that rain back this way. It would be nice to get a break from the heat. :) Enjoy yourself!

Love those colors of yarn you just got, jewel tones/fall colors are my absolute favorites.

I'm wondering if I should felt some of my wool items just to make them softer, too... that scarf looks amazing. I'm loving all of your blocks that you've crocheted. Your stitches look so perfect and neat! I hope I can get my work to look like that one day.

And, thanks for stopping by my blog & commenting!

Tammy...I was the same way. But I finally went for it! You normally see knitting that has been felted. The grannies felted beautifully and I have plans to do it again!

Just wondering what ever happened to this flower power scarf? Did you ever finish it, or just lost interest? I really love these colors together!
