About Me

A little over a year ago I decided to create my blog so I had a place to post pictures and talk about my favorite thing in the world...knitting and crochet.  Through fiddlesticks I have come to meet so many other crocheters and knitters!  My online yarn buddies.  I love following what they do as well.  This internet is such a wonderous thing.

This is the coolest diary a girl could ever have!

I come by my yarn habit naturally.  My grandmother taught me to crochet at a very early age of 12.  I have been "hooked" ever since then.  I often mention both of my grandmothers in my blogging.  They were both proficient with a crochet hook!  I have their crochet hooks that were handed down to me, as well as some of their afghans.  I like to think that they are watching over me saying, "that's my girl"!

My mom also crochets some, and is excellent with a crochet hook, and has perfected the craft of shirret (rug making).  Here is a sweet little picture of my Phoebe, posing on a shirret rug, which my mom started and handed over to me to finish.  It is actually a form of crochet with strips of wool, and is just about a lost art!

I'm a "Carolina Girl" fast approaching the big 5-0!  It's an interesting place to be in life.

It wasn't until I joined a meetup of knitters that I began my adventure into knitting.  Oh My Goodness!  I remember trying to teach myself to knit as a teenager and getting frustrated.  But with a little hand holding from my knitting buds at our weekly Tuesday night meetup I have discovered a whole new world!  What a great group of ladies they are.  Full of fun and giggles, skills, friendship, warmth...I could go on an on.  We get together for a yearly trip to SAFF (Southern Animal Fiber Festival) in Asheville for a weekend of yarn shopping that is out of this world!

I hope you enjoy my blog and will come back.  I love, love, love comments!
