Found my crochet mojo!

I think my creative crochet mojo has cranked up to full gear.  I have been happily crocheting roosters this week!  And check out the peace sign!  Found a little pattern for it on ravelry.  When I saw it I knew I had to use it! 

This was some leftover yarn I had from a pair of fingerless mitts.  It made a great little rooster. 

This little peace sign takes all of ten minutes to crochet up.  You can find the pattern here. 

Oh, but there is more!

Whatcha think?  The flowers are so fun to crochet up.  I placed one on the top rooster for his tail...it was so freakin groovy I couldn't stand it!

Fancy Rooster!  LOL....I made his legs black and tied bows on them. 

It's so "folk artish"!  I've grown attached to these.  I did gift one of them last week.  It wasn't easy!  I was thinking about putting them in my etsy shop but that is as far as it has gotten.  I will make them up on request. 

Yesterday I grabbed two balls of the Lion Brand Amazing and crocheted up a Queen Anne's Lace scarf.  I think this is one of my favorite scarf patterns. 

Doesn't it work up pretty in this yarn!!  I have one I made last year out of Noro that I wear all the time.  If you haven't tried crocheting one up, I recommend it!  I made this one up in an evening.  You can find the pattern here.

I am now crocheting up the Luna Scarf and am enjoying it.  I'll be back next week with pictures of it. 

Roosters & Scarves!

I have taken a little "log cabin afghan" break this week to knock out a couple projects, one of those being an order for some of these little guys.  I had forgotten how much fun they are to work up, and so cute, too!  I think I'll make some more in the next few weeks to go on a craft table this fall.

I also have finished up some scarves that I have been working on while I have been crocheting on my log cabin afghan.

One ruffle scarf done!  Believe it or not I used some yarn I bought a Big Lots for $1...yes I said it...$1!  I have quite a little stash of it, too.  I love it.  It is so soft, and the yarn is a lace weight, so it is light and airy.  I do LOVE these ruffle scarves!

One stripe-ity scarf done!  I used Lion Brand "Amazing" yarn in four different colors, changing through out the scarf.  It is all in garter stitch.  So simple and so easy!!  The colors are truly "amazing"!!

One knit scarf done!  I had actually started this quite some time ago, and decided that it needed to be finished up.  It's a simple one, just a k2, p2 pattern.  I used a chenille yarn from Sugar & Cream.  The yarn really worked up into a neat pattern.

So now, what next?  Well, I think I may get another scarf started so I have something to take with me to knitting group, and get back with completing my log cabin.  I can't wait for the big reveal!!!

Unfinished Business

Yay....Last night I finished my Red & White Hexi-blanket!  Pictures will be forth coming for the final reveal!! 

Now with that done, I have plenty of unfinished business I can concentrate on.

Making the unfinished list is my shirret rug.  I had forgotten how much I have actually done on this!  It is just needing a border, and I am still trying to decide exactly how I want that to look.  I think it needs some black in it for some contrast.  More to come on this little project!

Next:

This little puppy has been sitting on the back burner for quite some time, why?...I have no idea!  It is going to be a totally 70s retro looking scarf.  Working it up in some Palette wool.  This photo doesn't lie either...it is this bright!

Red Heart Log Cabin Throw

I am totally jonesing to start this afghan.  My nephew has asked for an afghan, and I think it would be perfect for him.  I have been studying all the different log cabins out there, knit and crochet, and there is not a one of them that I don't like.  Do not be surprised if you see a square popping up here on my blog soon!

I am out for now.  I will be back in a couple days with some pictures of the Red & Black for all to see!

Solomon's Knot

This week I taught myself the "Solomon's Knot" stitch, or "Love Knot".  I have been wanting to learn to do this for quite some time, and since I was in between projects this week I jumped at the chance to teach myself!  How fun and how easy!


With about five minutes of practice I was off and running.


Isn't it pretty!  The perfect compliment to ribbon, which I have a little stash of.
I whipped this little wrap up so quickly I did another out of a finer ribbon, and made it larger.

It was hard to get a good picture of this to do the ribbon justice.  It really turned out to be very pretty, and draped over black is stunning.

I also think these are pretty wrapped around the neck.

Like? 

This is about it for the week.  I did start a new project, a poncho, which I am writing a pattern for and an excited about!  A little sneaky peak of my progress so far....

This is pure yarn heaven for me, color, color, color!  And the texture of that garter stitch.  Yuuummm.....yum!

Friday Night Scarf

Named so, because I crocheted this up Friday evening while waiting on Brad's plane to come in! This is some yummy yarn my girlfriend brought back from China! It has great color along with a little glitzy thread through it. I used a half-double crochet, followed by a row of double crochet. And yes, as always, I made it super long! I don't know how long I'll be on that kick!



I have more of this yarn in shades of golds and think that may be something I can do this week in the evenings when nothing else really appeals to me!


New Project: Crocheted Skirt
I have had a request to make a crocheted skirt, in pinks and blacks. Here is my yarn selection, some gorgeous Lion Brand Wool!


I am experimenting with different squares. I can't quite decide what I like. Here is a sampling below. I did a few more samples last night, and will post those as soon as I can! This is my creative process...I work up some squares and put them together until I find what really strikes me. I'm actually wondering if I should throw another color into the mix! Any comments on this would be truly appreciated!!!



Of course, I love the black against this pink! It gives it that pop!

Brad came home for the weekend, which was so nice! The house has seemed so quiet while he's been gone. I was curious of how Phoebe would do when she saw him. She lost it! Started whining for him to pick her up! It was so sweet.

Funky Cold Medina Scarf!

I made this scarf for one of my buddies at work. She went nuts over my potato chip scarf...so I thought this would be perfect for her for Christmas! Well, this thing grew as I was knitting it! I kept running out of yarn...so it is full of different yarns. It's very funky and fuzzy, and long!!!!


Personally, I would wear it!!! I think it would look great with a classic black turtle neck sweater and a pair of jeans, and boots! I can see her in it now!



I don't know if you can tell, but there is a lot of blue/purple in the scarf, and the edges are red/orange. I used some recycled sari yarn (and run out) some funky eyelash yarn (which I ran out of) and trimmed it off with a really thin yarn that was fuzzy.



It's truly funky!!! I would love feed back from everyone reading this on your opinion!! In the meantime, I need to start on another scarf for another coworker. This girl loves the color pink, so I am thinking pinks with an accent of black. Not sure if I will crochet or knit it...I am leaning for just a simple garter knit scarf where I change the colors through out.
