Basically you cast on 300 stitches on a size 10 circular needle and knit about 20 rows. Just switch out your colors every row. I always leave a long tail at the beginning and end of each row for the chain stitched fringes.

I'm crazy about garter stitch.
Those who know me know how much I love color, lots of it!
I think one of my favorite things to knit is a scarf in a basic garter stitch. Mix up the colors and make a fun chained stitched fringe and it sets it off. This long slinky scarf is 9.5 feet long!! I used a variety of colors and yarns. The white mixed in gave it a prism look.
I think the fringes make it! This is a great in-between-project.
