More Blankies for Boston

I wanted to share some more Blankies for Boston.  My friend Annie and I each made two blankies, these are our seconds.  She made the striped blanket, I believe it is called "Brain Dead Afghan".  It turned out beautiful.  I would like to give Annie some crochet props!  Her blanket looks perfect.  I tried to get some close ups so you can see the stitches up close.  And I love the weight of it, too!

I opted for another granny square, of course!  

I couldn't stop taking pictures of them.  They were shipped out on Friday, so hopefully they were received today and on their way to one of the bombing victims.

 

I am on to a new project now, which is coming along nicely.  I hope to be back this weekend with some new pictures!

Back Porch Time

Greetings from the back porch!  I've been busy sprucing up the back porch.  It seems to be a work in progress.  I want to get some more plants or maybe some flowers.  Like the granny square afghan?  Snatched it up at a thrift store.  I was going to take it apart, but now I am happy that I left it as is, because it fits perfectly.

It feels a little bit like I am in a treehouse.  Our porch is up on the second level and we are surrounded by all the trees in the back.  And it is so private.  I have been busy with my red spray paint, as you can tell.  

And Girlie keeps me company while I am out here.  Just look at those eyes!  She is such a good little doggy.  

I found this cool shelf at the thrift store.  $10!!!  Holy cow!  You can hardly buy lunch for ten bucks.  This is just what I have been looking for.  So I cleaned it up and sprayed it down

Isn't it awesome!!   I was so excited when I started painting it.  I new instantly that I would like it.  I have been keeping my eyes out for something like this and the price was right!

So now it is Sunday evening, and I realise that Monday morning is not far away.  I do have a crochet project to share, but I am blocking it right now. 

Funny, when I finish up a project I feel kind of lost. This afternoon I have been rummaging through my yarn trying to figure out what I want to do next.  

I am sure I will find something!

Baby Booties

How do you like the little pair of booties I knit up this weekend?  These are so much fun to do and super quick!  You can get the pattern here.  If you need a cute little baby gift in a hurry, these take all of a couple hours to do.  They are done on straight needles and seamed up the back.  I have started another pair, but changed up the pattern.  I am doing them on double pointed needles so there is no seem up the back.  It is working very well. I will share them with you when I finish and write up the pattern. 

Octagon Blanket is making good progress.  I am crocheting up octies and sewing them together as I get a good pile done. Working this way works best for me, I can actually see the blanket coming together!  Working in the evening with seaming up black octies with black yarn has been a bit challenging.

I found a girl on flicker who has totally impressed me with her crocheting skills.  She had pictures of this pillow, which has totally inspired me!!  You can find her blog here, and be sure and visit her flicker photostream...you will not be disappointed!

I will leave you with a sweet little picture of Phoebe.  I snapped it with my camera phone, so the quality isn't the best.  (I was standing next to her treat jar!  LOL!)

Miss Fluffy Pants!

What's black and white, and red all over?

No, it's not a newspaper...it's this yummy knit scarf! I knit it up in blocks of black, white, and red yarns. The scarf is actually a bit chunky, and ultra soft. I know it seems a bit crazy making scarves this time of year, but when the idea hits I have to get to work. I do plan on knitting more of these up as well as my "Bling-Bling" scarf. It's such enjoyable knitting, no counting, no pattern...just working in blocks and changing colors as you feel.

I really like the fuzzy-fur like effect on the bottom square.

I find this is the perfect project for using those odd skeins of novelty yarn we all have hidden in our stash... you know what I mean... just in case we may need them! I am wanting to work up a scarf in pinks and browns.

I used a black fuzzy yarn coupled with a red eyelash yarn for the band of red at the neck.
I would encourage anyone who is inspired by this to give it a try...I promise you will love it!

Sweet Lil' Phoebe

Okay, so I am one of those pet owners who can't talk enough about their pet, but all I have to say is "just look at her"! I was so happy when this little creature came into my life. I had wanted a dachshund since I was a little girl, and the way she came into our family is such a sweet story, which I will share at a later time. For now, I will let you just take in her cuteness!

I hope all have a great remainder of the week. I have a small crochet project in the works, and who knows what else I will get into!
